Degrassi: The Next Generation

I discovered this morsel of heaven months ago when my friend showed me "the-n" channel on my digital cable.

Has anyone seen this show? I watched the originals back when I was in Jr. High but now these things are fucking fantastic! Spike is a parent! Snake is a teacher! Why am I so addicted to these shows??

They're written in this comforting, slightly-condesending but most of all ridiculous way that I can't help but laugh at. The show makes a point of ending every episode on a disheartening note (well maybe you're not my friend-kinda thing) which i burst out laughing every time!

But this channel also has "my so-called life" which is prettymuch a double wammy when it's 1am and i'm starving to see classic 1994 fashion and more overreacting plot lines...

But Please for the love of GOD am I crazy or is this shit HILARIOUS AND ADDICTING AT THE SAME TIME!!?!?!

I understand completely, this show is absolutely mesmerizing. I cannot explain its appeal either. If that show is on I can do nothing else but watch it. All of my friends that I cajole into watching it have become addicted as well.

i see the previews and i'm tempted to start watching the show but i know i won't be able to stop...

so survey says, yes it's addicting but watch it anyway, it's worth it? *questioning look*

I started watching the N for My So Called Life because it totally threw me back to high school... Not to mention the fact that I have a major thing for Claire Danes. Then, I started watching Degrassi just because of all the ads on the channel. At first I thought, the acting sucks and the scripts are totally after school special. However, after a couple episodes I was hooked.

I feel fine about watching MSCL because I was the same age as the characters at the time the show was made. But with Degrassi, I kinda feel creepy for being so addicted. Especially when I find myself humming the damned theme song.

These shows are like crack... good wholesome crack that is part of this complete breakfast.

No shit... but the accents are actually kind of endearing at that age.

I love that "goth" girl. She's a hottie boombottie.

I think some of the best parts about it is how the acting is terrible and the scripts are after school special...It's fantastic.

And if you think this theme song is addicting...you should hear the original...single handedly the most addictive thing my ears have ever heard in my life.

Do you know which season of Degrassi TNG is airing in the US right now? Just curious... cos in the most recent ones here in Canada, not only did Spike and Snake get married and have a baby, but Joey and Catlin are back on the show too.

This is hilarious - Americans watching Degrassi - I Love it. Did you guys ever get to see Degrassi Jr. High and Degrassi High? They are cult classics here in Canada - everybody grew up on Degrassi. Everything I know about life, I learned from Degrassi... and my my mom... and, well, life... But Degrassi rocked the best!

They air 1st season shows all week, then there's a new 2nd season show each Friday.

and curse you for sticking that song back in my head!

My sister's been taping them for me. I'm a huge fan of Degrassi Jr. High, Degrassi High, and what I've seen of Kids of Degrassi Street.

I agree that it's the afterschool nature of it that always drew me in and continues to.

I think more Americans watch the show than Canadians.
