like most people, I think they both can be good, they both can be bad.

Well normally speaking I hate being single. Currently though I just came out of a very intense two year relationship so I am vowing to be a confirmed batchelor for at least a year. The intimacy is what I miss the most then. I hate being lonely frown. That said there is NO way I can deal with getting emotionally embroiled with someone for some time. Flexible friends is the way to go!

I've been single most of the time and it works for me because I'm most productive when single and most myself. Maybe I could be productive, myself and happy with someone all at once but I haven't met her yet and won't make any leaps till I do. I does get a bit lonely sometimes though.

Stay Intoxicated Nightly Get Laid Every Day ..... well i manage the intoxication part fairly well but i gave up sex. the great thing about being single is not having to answer for anything you dont want to answer. questions like why do you work so long? were you at teh bar?
etc. etc. but the downside is no one to spoon me so i can get to sleep.

Depends who you're not going out with really.

In 90% of cases I find being single is the only viable alternative.

But every so often... you meet someone and being single as opposed to going out with them seems like a bad thing.

I'd be inclined to agree. I've been single, in the biblical sense, for quite a while now. With the exception of a lonely night here and there, I'd have to say I'm rather content to be single.

I've been single so long...I'm not sure how I'd react to someone else having a say in my daily activities.

i would agree, thats the plus side of being single.

Single = meaningless encounters. You get tired of that after a while.

Not necessarily. Single=NO encounters for some of us. biggrin I might be starting to get tired of it, but not quite yet.

Actually I'm in the "NO encounters" category myself. Just saying, when I do happen to get "lucky" it tends to depress me more.

Both! There are pro's and con's to both. However, honestly, being in a relationship is what I prefer. I wouldn't jump into one for the pro's though. Single life definately has it's merits too. biggrin
