Single :: Good or Bad?

I've been single for a few months now. I've been in relationships pretty much for the last ten years prior to that...so I'm in no particular hurry to rush into anything.

However, I can't decide if being single is a good thing or a bad thing. I'm free but I miss the company, I can fuck around but I miss the intimacy.

So my friend I ask you this. Is being single good or bad?

being single

good:

isn't as expensive/time consuming
can hit on and take home any girl you meet w/o thinking twice

bad:

no source of regular sex
companionship can be cool, sometimes

It's good in that you probably need some time to do some introspection after a decade of solid relationships. It's bad in that it will really suck being alone.

Both. It's always a compromise. My other brain does not like to compromise and that's when it's bad.

Obviously, they have pros and cons.

Because of the added stress a relationship can add to ones life, I have not chased too many women in about 2.5 years. My life should be more balanced in 2 more years. A woman would be good right about then.

Really, between work and school, there is no time. And I wouldn't expect a new girlfriend to be too patient with that schedule.

Been single my whole life.. had some intense friendships that felt exclusive, but nothing presently. It's mostly by choice. Being in a relationship means living by someone else's rules (especially for guys). If I want to wake up after noon and spend all my money on DVDs, I don't want someone getting down on me for it. Not saying it's all girls, but all my friends get like that with their boyfriends. I already have a mom, thanks. Maybe I just don't know what I'm missing.

Many people say that being single is a very good thing. This is because, for most people, it's a good thing to spend some time on your own and learn to understand and love yourself. Having been a fairly unpopular child growing up, having never been particularly social, and having suffered from Social Anxiety Disorder for most of my life, I have had plenty of time to get to know and love myself. Right now, I need someone else to get to know me and love myself.

i say it's bad. i dont like being single. of course, i say that cuz i've never had a good friend, so i use my boyfriend at the moment as my only means of support, i dont know how different my answer would be if i had someone else to count on.

Being single

Good:
Having vast amounts of alone time
Being able to anything you want
Don't have to deal with annoying judgmental parents
No fights

Bad:
Being lonely
Sex is so much better when you love a person, my personal thought

Of course I've only had one good relationship. And my last boyfriend cheated on me... lots. So right now I'm finding single pretty good.

Being single sucks. I'm a hopeless romantic, what can i say. ...

I'd like to try single life for a while. I've been with the same person for 10 years now. Things are still good, but god. I'd love to be on my own for a few months. Monogamy sucks sometimes

Single = meaningless encounters. You get tired of that after a while.

Not necessarily. Single=NO encounters for some of us. I might be starting to get tired of it, but not quite yet.

well for me it's not too fun, but I'm sure if I was in a bad relationship before being single I would appreciate it much more than I do now (rather than not being in a prior relationship at all.)

I'm not a big fan of being single, but then again I have this fear of dying alone and unloved. It's different for everyone, I suppose, but I really hate waking up in bed alone.

i prefer being single. its more exciting. i get bored in relationships. all the fun is in the chase or chases.
