So I've received four requests that Andy Kaufman is indeed alive. All of the stories submitted have cited a press release that states that after twenty-years, the comic is indeed alive and that he is "sorry about faking his death". The press release cites an interview with ABC news (of which there is no record at ABC.com or ABCnews.com), DNA tests that were supposedly done with the auditing firm of Ernst & Young, but that was later withdrawn with the statement about ABC on his "blog".
Unfortunately, no legitimate source can confirm this story or even invalidate it, so we'll all have to jump through this spectre's hoop until we figure out what is going on.

This seems more like Kaufman the more I think about it.

Was this story edited? It seems different than it did when I first commented.

Yup
It was published and unqueued because something was there that shouldn't have been.

You commented way-quick.

Interesting, but who really gives a fuck?

Jim Morrison or Elvis would have been a lot more exciting.

You may have received such "news" because Mr. Kaufman claimed many times that he would fake his own death, and that if he did so he would return twenty years to the day, which was May 16th. So far, I don't see him anywhere, though dying of lung cancer at thirty-five, when you don't smoke, is a bit wierd.

You mean "blog"? Don't worry: he's not breaking any precedents.

Jim Morrison or Elvis would have been a lot more exciting.

To paraphrase Almost Famous, Jim Morrison was a drunken buffoon disguising himself as a poet.

Long Live Tony Clifton!

I just can't imagine Andy Kaufman pulling of the greatest prank *ever*, only to reveal himself on *blogspot*. *That* really doesn't seem his style, to me.

Someone said this before, but I think it would have been funny if he'd been lying low for these 20 years but died while waiting. Like eaten by a polar bear or something.

This would be such his style of humor too!!! LOL!!!

Kind of like the whole wrestling thing, you could never prove that it was all a hoax (the whole spat with Lawler). But low and behold, Lawler finally admitted a couple years ago, after contractual obligations had expired, that it was nothing more then a hoax.

If Kaufman is alive... he's probably the greatest Elvis Impersonator walking the earth.

tonguemiao!!

side note: I was taking a shower a month or so ago... and had The Beatles, "You've got to hide your love away" running through my head... then all of a sudden I realized it was being sung by Tony Clifton!

Only time will tell. I read an article that shows some pics that might be him, but his site says that he will be proving that it is not a hoax in the near future.
