First things first, before I started my interview with Jack and Meg White of The White Stripes the publicist came in and said “Don’t ask them personal questions!” That means don’t ask Jack about his attack on Jason Stollsteimer of The Von Bondies or his burgeoning relationship with Renée Zellweger.

I wanted to respect the publicist and at the same not cheat the people of SuicideGirls. So I mentioned “the controversy that shall not be named,” TWICE. Both times he dodged it.

But I guess when...

I really like the white stripes. I think that they're music is really good and they have good rock and roll ethic (if you will). I think the backlash is sort of juvenile and unfounded.
All of there roots and influences are cool.
I like the fact that they keep there private lives private.

And you really can't deny their stage presence.

Backlash was certainly inevitable. I was never surprised when I heard it. They are a great band though. Jack White is a fantastic artist; he's both an inventive guitar player and songwriter.

Thanks for the interview. I'm really happy for their success.

THey were the absolute worst part of Coffee and Cigarettes. Jack and Meg White should never attempt to act again.

Damn skippy. There were only two or three decent scenes in the movie, and theirs was for sure not one of them.

I can admire the fact they made it so far with only 2 members, but he doesnt give enough credit to bass players. Not all basslines follow the guitar. And I never know Thomas Edison was such a prick.

Brilliant interview - the first WS interview I've read that's been written by someone who knows anything about the band.

Bravo.

Hehe that's great. I love the last question. "I paid $16,000 cash for a van" I'd so do that. And Meg was cute, adding her two cents everytime Jack took a breath. I love Meg. Mmmm Meg.

They can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned. I feel like if they'd done just one more take for Coffee and Cigarettes it would've been perfect.
