This is to all the 18, 19, 20 year olds out there. Do you consider yourselves to be adult? Or do you think you're still a kid?

Edited to add, i don't mean legally per se, but do you feel like you're in charge of your life, complete Captain of You. Or do you still rely on your parents for too much, or perhaps you don't feel mature? Do you classify yourself as an adult yet, or are you scared?

Adult, adulterated, tainted, void of innocence, experience and realization of the world and how things are.

Adult=Spoiled from innocence.

I'm very much an adult.

If I'm 24, does that mean I can no longer be involved in the decision-making process? So I'm automatically an adult? That sucks.

I take of all my own shit but its always so out of control its like im a kid in the adult world most of the time.
So i dont feel like a kid as much as an inadequate, inexperienced adult, even though i have been on my own for 4 years.

I have the maturity level of a 2 year old, not to mention the build of one, plus I haven't yet been thrown into the harsh world of buying my own groceries.

So no. Still a kid here...so when my set goes up you'll all go to jail for looking at it. Dirty Perverts...tongue

You're an adult at 18 whether you act like it or not. Lat's talk about not being able to drink at 19 or even 18 but you can go to war and die for your country.Doesn't seem balanced.Anyone?

Well, I'm 33, but I was on my own at 19. I felt like an adult then. In retrospect, I tried to grow up too fast. Now I am a mixture of adult and kid. I'm an adult in the sense that I am independent and do my own thing, make my own rules for my life, and I'm a kid in that I don't live a typical 33 year old's life. I have friends that are all ages and tend to relate better to the younger ones. I think that there are more people like me in my age group than in previous generations, but I'm still in the minority. I love it though! It's good to be a 33 year old kid. I did the traditional adult thing for a while and it blows! What was your question again? wink biggrin

see, OK. I consider myself an adult because of what I am ABLE to do, but I have been described on many occasions as "a really big kid" so I think the better question is; what makes you an adult? at what point do you decide, OK, this is me driving now?

At 19, I thought I was an adult. My self-centered, self-important, rash decision making proved me wrong in the long run, but hey, at the time, I *was* an adult in my mind and therefore could do no wrong... and no, I wasn't dependant on my parents and doing the psuedo-rebellion thing.

Fuck, at 16, I thought of myself as an adult. A decade later, at 26, I finally feel like an actual adult (self-aware without self-consciousness or self-centeredness, fully self-supportive, aware of my own needs and wants and the reasons behind then, the ability and willingness to provide for my needs as well as my wants), and would like to go back to myself a decade ago and slap myself around a bit.

except that I'm gonna be in the middle of nowhere proving to myself that I am an adult, that I can make it on my own, and pay for my life and the schooling I need to get where I want

Red vs. Blue said something I found quite intellegent in the "Should I Get a Tattoo?" short.

"You are a god damn idiot. I'd like to prove this mathematically if I may. Take your current age. Now subtract 10 years from it. Were you smart back then? Of course you weren't, you were a god damn idiot! The fact of the matter is, you're just as big of an idiot today, it's just going to take 10 more years for you to realize it."

By the way, I'm not calling you an idiot, merely referring to the way we all reflect on ourselves as morons when we were younger.

I'm a kid 98% of the time. When it comes to adult stuff: money, education, "life choices" as it were, I consider myself an adult.

So yea. Thanks mom. whatever
