I knew it. Alcohol isn't just a religion, it's an art form...
The Absolut bottle is easily recognisable and the cult-like drink was first immortalised by Andy Warhol in 1985. From that point on a cult arose in the world of advertising which has since spread to the high culture society of the gallery. The list of artists who've given their impression of the bottle since contain such as Keith Haring and some have paid homage to celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe and The Sex Pistols. And a collection began...

Big, small, we’ve got a little bit of everything,” says Kahan, who assumed control of the collection a decade ago. “We’ve got a guitar. We have a surfboard back there.”

The assortment of paintings, sculptures, furniture, photographs and jewelry was inspired by the liquor company’s much-praised ad campaign: Absolut (fill-in-the-blank). The Absolut series of ads, launched when the company entered the U.S. market 25 years ago, continues today with the vodka bottle still its centerpiece.

The print ads, the artwork, have a level of intelligence and inclusiveness,” Kahan says. It is an opinion echoed by advertising executive Jerry Della Femina.

The ads are so consumer friendly that everybody thinks they can do an Absolut ad,” Della Femina says. “That’s the toughest thing in the world — to make it look easy.

The collection of art pieces is kept in a New York building in Manhatten, in a temperature controlled environment, but if you want a sneak peak... Then visit the Absolut Collectors Society.

Wow, They've got a Gay Pride ad too. Wish they woulda aired this in the states, but it's still boss of Absolut to show their support.

A coffee table book came out awhile ago, I want to say about 5 years ago that had a massive collection of all the ads. Very cool stuff.

I adore the Absolut ads. I'd love to have a collection of the pictures/posters some day.

Back in the Dorm Days, we papered our closet doors with the magazine ads. I wish I'd saved them. blackeyed

oh man. its great, and it sucks all at once. but i wont get started on the evils of corporate funding at museums and in the arts, cause there is no good answer and ill just get frustrated.
its just funny cause this series came up in a conversation about the topic i mentioned just a few weeks ago.
