Mozilla! Automatic pop up blocking, ad blocking and other great extensions. I can't use anything else anymore. I've had trouble getting into the chat here, though. I think it's a java thing. Still, it's try it out. If you don't like, who cares it's free.

I second the Mozilla suggestion. I'm running 1.6 right now, and have had no problems. I also hear good things about Opera. For speed, I lurve lynx; but it is text only.

You could download and install the latest version of Netscape here, although it will probably be slower that IE. If you're having a specific problem with IE, I might be able to help you.

mozilla all the way! i like the fact that you can skin it as well. i too have had trouble with sg chat, but that's a small problem compared to the crap you have to deal with using IE.

I have two problems right now:

1.When I right click on a picture there is no "properties" option, so I can't lift it.

And

2. It is not letting me into SG right now! It's pissing me off. I had to open AOL to get here. Every other site is working and I even tried going in a back way, but all I get is "No page to display" or "cannot find server".

It's just pissing me off right now and I want to kick it's ass out the door!!!! mad

Mozilla, eh? I never chat here anyway, so it's no big loss. Is it easy to install? Just click and it's all good? 'Cause I suck with setting stuff up sometimes.

I don't know which operating system you are running, but if you are running Windows 98 or higher, you may want to consider running Windows Update here.

Some websites copyright their pics, so you will not be able to right click on them at all.

Having the latest version of your browser almost always helps.

There is an SG "PC Users" group to help you deal with these issues. I am assuming that you do not have a Mac.

Hmmm...Thanks for the tips.

I am running XP so it downloads most updates automaticly. There was nothing in there I needed.

I get the "Properties" button when I right click on a picture in AOL, but it's never an option on my IE.

Here's another vote for the older mozillas....
I personally use FireBird, and I fucking love it.

That little globe icon that appears in your desktop tray only usually prompts you for "critical" Windows updates, but if you have run Windows Update and it doesn't have any updates for your browser, I'll take your word for it. Personally, if Windows Update prompts me for an update, though, I usually install it implicitly.

Do you have the "Save Picture As" option when you right click on a pic? This is the one that I use to save pics.

Sometimes, erratic Windows behavior can be due to a virus infestation. I would never connect a PC to the Internet or slip in a floppy disk without antivirus protection. I recommend the latest version of Norton Antivirus. If you are connected to a broadband Internet connection (LAN, cable, DSL, satellite), I would highly recommend installing a software firewall. I recommend Norton Personal Firewall.

Ok, it would seem that my problem with getting into SG is not the browsers fault. It's not letting me in with Mozilla or Firefox.

The picture thing is fixed. I can see the tab with those browsers. See, I didn't want to "Save" the picture, I wanted to see it's web address so I can link it somewhere else.

I don't have a firewall, but I am using Norton AntiVirus. I just started it up scanning my hard drive.

What is it telling you when you try to log in to SG? Perhaps you need to reset your SG password.

Have you run LiveUpdate to update your Norton Antivirus program/virus definitions or does it run automagically? This is very, very important.

Scanning your hard-drive probably takes up a lot of resources and time. You might just want to run it overnight instead and check on it when you wake up.

I generally use IE because it's quicker to load (always in memory), but I also use Firefox at other times, because tabs are the shit.

It's telling me that Suicidegirls.com does not exist. Mozilla/Firefox tells me there is no data at that web site and IE comes up with the 'ol "can not find page"... but I am here! Through AOL...

I think I am just gonna shut down and try in the morning, I'm tired.

Thanks for all your help!!!!

Is AOL your ISP? You may want to browse AOL's FAQ's to solve this one.

Rebooting your computer and reconnecting to the Internet might help.

SlimBrowser

It's basicly IE, stripped down, with tabbed browsing and a nearly flawless pop-up blocker and a bunch of extrea features. It runs much faster than IE, it runs faster for me than any browser I've ever used, including opera, mozilla, and mozilla firebird. SlimBrowser is all the good things of IE, without the bad, so I like it.

There is no perfect browser. At least for me. IE, Mozilla, Opera all have features I like, feautures I can't stand. Mozilla's the best of them though. IE, the worst.
