Marcos Weskamp and Dan Albritton have created an addictive little program entitled Newsmap, a visual news aggregator for Google News. In short, it creates a map of the latest breaking news in various fields, and visually represents the news articles size according to how popular it is with journalists and bloggers. Newsmap's objective takes that goal a step further and provides a tool to divide information into quickly recognizable bands which, when presented together, reveal underlying patterns in news reporting across cultures and within news segments in constant change around the globe.
