I just witnessed a sign of true unfunny internet addiction to a friend and it has cuased me to ask the question in seriousness:

Have you ever found that you didn't do something that was very important to you becuase you were too buzy doing something online?

I assume homework is a given.

I've forgotten to eat. Sometimes, hours will fly by, and I won't realize it. This only happens once every couple of weeks, though. I'm pretty good at budgeting my SG time with work and school.

Is that really possible?

I used to be an Everquest addict. It really killed my social life. I quit EQ the day i realized I was trying to arrange my classes so I would have plenty of time to play. It is a disease.

Like, sleep? Write papers? Interact with actual people that exist?

I have no idea what you're talking about...

My best friends fiance left him and moved to New York for some guy she met online while playing Evercrack.

She had been a really beautiful girl at one point before all she ever did was play Evercrack, drink cola, and chain smoke. I remember coming over to her place one day and seeing her there in the dark engulfed in a thick cloud of smoke with no lite source other than the computer screen and thinking to myself, damn, she looks like Gollum. It was fucking sad.

Hehe, that reminds me of the guy that got me hooked on EQ. He is bald and used to come in to work after being up all night long. He also had the Golum look to him.

damn I am constantly putting off my online class and my photography class! I can't leave here and have no motivation to get the work done. I have forgotten lots of appointments. I always tell myself I'll reschedule, but never do. I also don't go to bed till 7am most nights so that hinders what I can and want to do the next day. Do they have Internet addiction classes?? I may really need one. Most days it totally consumes my life.

That's more or less the point I wanted to get at. Yes, Internet Addiction is actually the #1 reason that people aren't finishing college in the States (last I checked) these days and you can seek help for it if you need to. Ironically I would recommend looking for places in your area online that deal with it or not so ironically maybe seeing a concelor.

It sounds funny but INTERNET ADDICTION IS A REAL PROBLEM!!!!

Godspeed everyone.

I used to spend so much time online that when I WOULD go out into the real world, or "IRL", for those of you who are hip, I would verbally assault strangers just because I didn't agree with their point of view, or what they were wearing, or just because I thought they were stupid. They'd still take it, because really, I'm just that fucking bad. Still, it made trips to get my Seroquel prescription refilled somewhat embarrassing.

Now google "seroquel" and read what I just wrote one more time. wink
