Help me!!!

For as long as I can remember, even when I'm getting plenty of sleep and drinking lots of water, I've had grey bags/circles under my eyes.

I've been making sure to drink plenty of water for the past two months, and despite my work/school schedule, I've been getting 6-8 hours of sleep every night thanks to a ton of effort and strict time budgets.

Is there any way I can get rid of these things? I don't care if I have to sit with produce on my face for an hour every other day. I want them GONE.

Some people have them. I do, dark circles. They only disappear when I get tan, and I live in the land of no sun.

It's probably different with women, but I dont care. This is the way I look.

Can't you wear makeup or something?

YES, I can wear makeup, but it takes a ton of effort to cover that area properly, and the makeup wears off quickly. tongue I'd much rather get rid of them altogether.

Chanel Age Delay Eye... hmmm... I was also thinking Oil of Old Ladies might have something too. It's never too soon to start taking care of my skin, I guess. I AM getting old. wink

i was always told that bags under the eyes are due to poor circulation of the blood and low oxygen. ive always had them since i started wearing glasses about 11 years ago.
try a cold face pack twice a day. it'll take ages to see any difference but it will encourage the blood to flow to that area and repair the tissues.
plus its really relaxing on the eyes.

Makeup and Photoshop are my friends at this point, but I'll try some of these suggestions. Thanks, everyone. I'd love to hear more. smile

The ice pack on the face sounds wonderfully relaxing. I may do that every so often even if it doesn't help the bags.

A great little trick is to use some concentrated tea tree oil....works wonders....I have also heard that preperation h will reduce the swelling and the circles.....and no I reflect on what my girlfriend would think of me.....cool for knowing this.....or just plain creepy....hehehe

I find that cold metal teaspoons work rather well. Visine around the eyes works as well.

Isn't that why people wear cucumbers while they sleep?

it seems like grey eye shadows and dark liner would only accentuate the dark circles. i have dark circles, i used to complain about them in middle school etc when i was learning how to apply make up... but ive come to accept its just the way i look!

I have tried St. Ives and Neutrogena products for circles- I have always had them too- I usually stop using the stuff before it starts working, but I have heard rave reviews.
When I have sinus problems it gets worse, too. Which is often.

Good luck Sorcha! And let me know if you find the wonder cure...

I've heard newscasters use Prep H, though.

In a similar vein to what delete_ said above, I think 1) darkness around the eyes is sexy and 2) Sorcha's eyes are dead-on sexy...

...however, if you're developing some kind of new, recent baggage around them, I can see your concern.

I personally think the whole Preparation H thing is a collosal myth.

A family friend found that when they cleaned up the air (new filters in the furnace, purifiers, etc.) in the place they were living they noticed that the bags went away... some people are just more susceiptible to them

and prep H works, its made to reduce swelling and puffiness

I've always had dark circles under my eyes. It sucks big time. It doesn't matter how much sleep I get or water I drink or any of that other stuff, either. My mom has them too. I'm told it's genetic skin-pigmentation thing in some cases and nothing you can really do, besides laser-surgery to basically bleach the skin. Ick. No thanks.

I don't generally wear much make up but I've been searching for a good under-eye concealer for a long time (most are crap and don't look right unless you wear foundation too, or they rub off way too easily) and right now I'm pretty happy with this Clinique Quick Corrector stuff (expensive, but some things aren't good unless they are).

I haven't read through this whole thread so I apologize if I'm repeating something someone else has already said. smile

What I always hear from my doctors is that the dark circles under your eyes, even with adaquate sleep, is a sure sign you aren't getting all of your nutrients from your food. I don't know how to correct this, though.. I think it's kind of one of those things you don't have much control over?
