The parents of popular parody singer "Weird Al" Yankovich were found dead in their San Diego home by concerned relatives late on Friday. The cause of death appears to be carbon monoxide poisoning as a wood fire had been started in the fireplace and the flue was found closed. Yankovich's mother was found on the bathroom floor and his father in a chair in the living room.

"Weird Al" Yankovic, 44, had no comment during a performance in Mankato, Minnesota, on Saturday night.

Before the show, a graphic projected on the screens at the back of the stage dedicated the evening to his parents, KTOE-AM reported. Yankovic also canceled a meet-and-greet with selected fans.

A neighbor described Yankovic's parents as nice people who were proud of their son.

"Everybody who came to the neighborhood knew Nick," said John Buehman, who lives across the street. "They're going to be missed, big time."

Yankovic was scheduled to appear Monday in Grand Forks, North Dakota, as part of a tour for his new album, "Poodle Hat."

man that's sad, every now and then you see these news paper bits on whole families found dead in their homes due to carbon monoxide poisoning, it's surreal really.

Someone needs to make an alarm for carbon monoxide like a smoke detector. They have them for radon levels so why not?

It exists. Just not everyone has them, or has enough to cover enough of their house.

You can buy them at any Home Depot-type place. They tend to be a little more expensive than smoke detectors, but so worth it.

They're a bit less reliable than smoke detectors in that they have to be plugged into a wall outlet, which means when the power's out, or a fuse is blown, the CO detector doesn't work. Still, they're invaluable in a house with a fireplace.

Wow. Again, I am utterly impressed by how insenstive some people can be.

And it's not something to be proud of.

Wow, I'm not sure I could go out and play Amish Paradise and My Bologna after my parents died. I'll bet it was a fine, fine show anyways, knowing him.
