Is anyone here a blood donor?

I've been going regularly, there is this cute nurse at the clinic wink I also enjoy the whole process of donating; the people are so friendly! This needs a vampire smiley.

I've only done it twice. I know I really should make the time to go more but I always need to work up courage first.

Whenever my anemia isn't acting up. I like it. They always get scared 'cause I fill the bag so quickly. smile

I'm also a fan of needles, so they're always shocked when I insist on watching what they're doing.

I'm A+, by the way.

I get the cookies and juice shoved down my throat as well, since I'm already deathly pale. It's hilarious.

I used to donate as often as they let you. I got a tattoo, so I'm just waiting for the year that they make you wait to pass.

Yeah, that sounds like what happens to me. I've become more and more anemic since high school and haven't been able to give blood for a couple years, but I love doing it.

I recently started donating. It was one of things that I always meant to do but never got round to. My only problem is my veins are hard to find. At least that'll probably stop me getting a smack habit though.

Can't do it. First of all, I have a tattoo and piercings now. Second, I pass out when I give blood. Third, I'm visciously unhealthy of late.

Funny story about giving blood actually... I had to get a blood test to see if I had arthritis and while I was sitting waiting for the nurse, a woman and her daughter came in. Now...the girl (who was getting her blood taken) looked like she was about five and she was bawling. Her mom sat her down in the chair next to me to wait for the nurse and tried to calm her down. The kid wouldn't stop crying. So I turned to her and kindly said "Hey...watch this. I bet you're going to do a lot better than I am. You can do it." So the kid whimpers a little and tries to smile. The nurse comes over, takes my blood and I slump over on the arm rest. The kid looks very concerned (and blurry...). So the nurse takes her blood and the kid passes with flying colors. No tears, no fainting, nothing. So she turns to me, cocks her head and says "I did it!" I give a very weak thumbs up and continue to battle consciousness on the chair.

My veins "roll", so the nurses always get frustrated. I've taken to locating the vein myself and then guiding them with the needle until they can feel it and put the needle in.

I always end up with MASSIVE bruises up and down my arms. I'd say I hate my veins for doing that, but it's kind of cool to get those horrified stares from co-workers. biggrin

I ♥ bruises.

Once when I gave a blood sample, the nurse ended up giving me big bruises on both arms!

Thank you to everyone who donates. My father has a bone marrow condition, and he is transfusion dependent. I was proud to call him a "vampire cyborg" recently because he needs blood to live, and he's getting an implant to make it easier to "consume" it.

I don't donate as often as I should. frown

I m donating since I joined the air force... the food you get after donating is way better than air force food. Unfortunately they wont let you donate on a daily basis .

I've never done it. Either I've had a tattoo done for less than a year, or I'm too light to drain.
