How have I not noticed this thread in 5 years?!
Because it's been kinda quiet in recent years, I guess.....or so the Germans would have you believe.

i just enrolled in cooking school. which means i quit the "career path".......will alton brown save my soul?
I don't know if Alton will save you in the sense of being a working professional. He's dandy for home chefs like me...but I don't know if he'll help you where the metal meets the meat in a working kitchen.

Why do people think PBR is good beer?
Because it's cheap. I think the punk/hispter revival of PBR is due to the perception that it's largely ignored by corporate America (even though it's made by a large brewery)....and as a rebellion against the pricey micro-brew trends of today.
Personally...I'd say if you want to drink a cheap, relatively locally produced beer....and NOT buy into large brewing....get Lionshead if you can find it....and Yuengling if you can't.
