Conceived in Hell, fueled by folklore, raised in the comic book. This issue we introduce you to a special boy who came from the nether-world to destroy us all, but became a man in spite of his destiny.

On April 9, 1944, he was born to murder the world: a demon created in fire and summoned to Earth by HitlerÂ’s evil scientists in a desperate attempt to win World War II by bringing about the absolute destruction of mankind. Humanity would never know how close it came to extinction when the clandestine...

Brilliant comic, absolutely brilliant. Have been a fan of Mignola's for years, since he has done some old Wolverine one-shots. This is the best mixing of folklore and the "superhero" genre since, well, "Sandman." What makes Mignola's work so effective is stories' ability to combine the various source materials, i.e. the assorted myths of the different cultures, with the mundanity of the BPRD having to approach this as another day on the job. The humor and pathos are so evocative. Brilliant. That is how it is like "Sandman." Both are incredibly literate, though "Sandman" has less the light-touch and is more introspective. I can't wait to see the film.

Yes, I fell in love with everything the moment I laid eyes on the first graphic novel. Mignola has a style that has to be admired-not to mention, the writing is far more original and solid than most comics I've read..."Sandman" does have excellent writing as well, but Hellboy still remains a favorite.

I love Mignola. Hell, I even bought Disney's Atlantis Dbl. Disc DVD so I could see all of his conceptual designs.

Mike Mignola is one of my favorite people, despite the fact that I never see him anymore and he once almost punched me in the nose over the cover for QUASAR #13, which I made him draw. Thankfully, he's too nice a guy for that sort of thing - besides which, once I understood what he was frothing at the mouth about, I realized I deserved whatever vengance he saw fit to dispense.

Mignola is awsome. Hellboy the book kicks ass ESPECIALLY in the short story format. (Almost Colossus, represent). I dug the movie too. one of the best comic book flicks out there.

I never got why people had a problem with his art back when he was doing batman. His style and colours are awesome to say the least. It was sad when they made the hellboy movie though. Out to make money del toro.
