I've always hated working out, so I can have big muscles, and the idea of going to the gym for this reason has always turned me off. Does anyone know of a good light workout routine for skinny guys like me who don't really care about having huge muscles.

Exactly what I was gonna say. Sit ups or crunches too. Also dips.

skateboarding!!!! and no i'm not joking. even if you're just rolling around everywhere you go it's still a fantastic way to keep in shape. it keeps you young looking as well.

Well you can just buy small weights and use them at home while watching telly. Or then do situps, pushups and other non-equipment excersises. But you haven't told your exact goals for working out, so do you want to just enough strength to move furniture, for example, or do you want a high fitness level so you could run further without panting? For a full workout and for real muscle development, the gym is by far the best, and practically only alternative. But if one plays sports with friends for an hour a day, they can easily achieve a healthy level of fitness and strength without having to go to the gym or making big changes to their diets (unless you live completely on junk food).

Pretty much anything you do at the gym will be okay so long as you do light weight and a lot of reps. 3-4 sets of 10-12. Work on slow, correct form. Go three times a week, if you can, and target a different muscle group everytime. For me: Mon-Chest and Upper abs, Wed- back and shooulders, Friday- legs, arms, lower abs. Tuesday, Thursday, and Sat or set aside for jogging.

Edited to say I want to start pilates.

I credit my temple-like body to fast food and moderate alcholism.

You don't need huge muscles to be in good shape. I only weigh 150 lbs., but I look bigger than that. I only train every other day for about 45 min. to an hour.

So, you want to stay fit, but don't really care about muscles? Is that the sum of it?

If yes, then there are a bunch of good ideas in here. There are a ton of activities that are more fun than going to the gym. Playing sports like basketball and soccer, cycling (im a fan of mountain biking), running, rock climbing, etc...just try to find something you enjoy and you'll be more motivated to keep it up.

No offense MetalEric but the picture above is exactly what I don't want to llok like. And my goals are simple, a slight tone. As i live in the middle of fucking nowhere and have no car, I have no access to a gym and cannot skateboard, although I do under normal circumstances. Good lookin out to the people that responded though. Thanx

You're welcome, and remeber that if you collect stamps or coins, you weren't allowed to play around with your poopoo enough as a kid.
