Cutters please give me some advice

My wife is a cutter. but she does not do it during depression, when is the trigger many times. She does it when she is in a 'blood lust' as it were. She likes the sight of blood tricking down her arms.

We were drinking the other night, watching Johnny Depp in Once upon a time in Mexico and then Drugstore Cowboy. The scene with Johnny (those who have seen it will know) triggered her desire to cut. i was by then faded and went to sleep, and the next morning her arms were cut in an extreme fashion. 15-20 cuts (scratches) on both arms. She realized she went too far, and because she was drunk, and turned on by the movies.... and really wanted to see the blood stream.

SO... how worried should i be? in our five years of knowing each other, she has only done this about 6 times. recently however, once we had some really open dialogue about it, she has cut herself more often. I feel like that as i begin to try and understand her needs, I have given her permission to do it.

I really could use some insight into others who may have this same fascination and method.

this group probably could help you out a little better

i think a lot of people might be unwilling to talk about it on the boards bc theyre so public. thats why so many people are recommending groups.
