oh, and they can't be too obscure, cause they need to be download accesible tongue

"Roger & Me" - Michael Moore - is awesome. "American Pimp" - Hughes brothers - is even better. i hear "Winged Migration" - is well worth seeing (though i haven't yet).

'Mr. Death,' 'The Thin Blue Line,' 'Gates of Heaven' -- all really good films by Errol Morris

Or, you could always watch a 13 minute short documentary I did in college called "Fanboy" wink

Microcosmos is a documentary about life in the average meadow, the camera gets right down to the level of the bugs where birds are giant monsters and rain is like a bombardment.
there's no narrator here, just music to accompany the visual journey, i thought it was nearly magical.

Maybe check the library even. Those places can be full of old obscure documentaries as well as new obscure ones.

hell house by george ratliff. it's a little hard to find but it is really good. it's about a haunted house that a church in texas puts on every year. however instead of goasts and monstars they show scenes of suicide, abortion, homosexuality, and anything else they deam as a sin and pressure the people who go through the hell house to give their lives to god. the film follows the 2-3 months of prepration and the opening night of the hell house. you can find it on amazon i think.

Anything by Michael Moore is great. Don't believe all the "Cool to Hate Michael Moore" backlash lately, the man is a genius. The Big One and Bowling for Columbine are brilliant and hillarious, while Roger and Me is brilliant but has less of his humor.

Capturing The Friedmans

If I Should Fall from Grace With God, a really great documentary on Shane McGowan, the former lead singer of the Pogues. Watch with subtitles.
