Lizz Winstead is one of the bravest comedians around today. She talks about abortion with a rare candor, as is a staunch supporter of Planned Parenthood. Her work raising awareness and funds (over a million dollars to date!) for the organization has not surprisingly raised the ire of the religious right, but she stands firm, fighting for women’s reproductive rights at a time when in recent history they’ve never been more in peril.

In her new book, Lizz Free Or Die, she devotes a chapter to...

Fascinating and informative interview. I had no idea she was so involved with Planned Parenthood.

That's a really good interview, albeit depressing and scary.

A very talented comedian with an important message. I am glad this site supported her, and am happy she is out there fighting the morons.

Although she is obviously very intelligent and the article is well-written, I do think that it's a bit harsh with it's generalization of anyone who is not "left" politically. The interviewer was talking about hateful people, but her comments weren't much better. It took away from the integrity of the interview, in my opinion.

Agreed. I'm technically Right-wing, but have given thousands to Planned Parenthood so far. Not all of us are anti-abortion, anti-birth control, homophobes. To paint us all like that is to lose people who you could possibly be friends and/or allies with.

Well, let me offer the rebuttal as respectfully as possible, from someone far away.

All we hear about here is the lunatic fringe of the US right wing. The part you say you're not part of.

(And I should add that I watch US politics more closely than you watch the politics of my country. Guaranteed.)

Which says to me that if you want liberals to stop being so meeeeaaaan to you and yours, how about you try to call out your side of politics when it goes nutfuckingcrazy. Which sadly is most of the time.

It's not just Michelle Bachman and Todd Akin. They're shameful. But Grover Norquist? Karl Rove? They're awful too. Send them fucking packing and do it now.
