Having looked into this and actually watched some highlight clips I would be a liar if I said I wasn't intrigued. Its a ridiculous concept on the surface and seems to be nothing more than an over glorified beer commercial but when you watch the games and see these ladies in action one thing becomes very clear. They aren't fucking around, these girls know how to play.
So my question to all of you is this: Is football in lingerie a serious sport or not? Is it going too far in terms of objectifying women or placing too much emphasis on sexuality? Or should we stop caring about what women are dressed in and support them? Its obvious to me that these women take this sport seriously so maybe we should too. What do you think?
I originally tuned in for the boner factor, but stayed glued because the players were really fucking serious about the game and had real talent. The hits are hard, no pun intended, and I grimaced more than once due to the lighter padding they sport. I was impressed and I could really give a shit about football. That being said I think the lingerie is a gimmick more than anything to get people to tune in and see how good the gals play which keeps them tuned in. Worked for me. Hell, I'd go see it live and not even wear pants with holes in the pocket bottom.
A few of those girls are badass. The lingerie is a bonus, and I agree, probably gets people to watch in the first place. But for real, I wouldn't want some of 'em hitting my ass.
I have to agree with you guys, I was also seriously impressed with how they play. I would definitely check out a game or two next year when they have a full season I think.

One can say the same thing about the latest incarnation of roller derby. A lot of people come to watch women in fishnets but they end up being impressed with their athleticism
I don't know if this is local or if it is common phrase in Roller derby, but my local team (The Angry Beavers) has a tag line they use when advertising events - "Come for the beer, the babes, and the bruises"
