I feel your pain! I hate running a cash register... and I can understand how the kids feel since I've played Magic:The Gathering for a few years... and their parents always say "You already have like 30 cards at home" and that just isn't enough!

Dude, there's always a good purpose for owning a sword
As I understand it, sword ownership in Japan in licenced, as gun ownership is licenced in the US and elsewhere (just banned in the UK) if it was his grand father's sword, chances are it's a several hundred year old family heirloom, and probably has a name.
It sucks that the kid was being bullied, my fiance's told me how upset she was for being bullied at school (about her looks jealous skanks ), and don't forget the Japanese culture. He'd probably feel shame and dishonor if he'd told anyone he was being picked on, so he dealt with it like a warrior (that takes balls) In a way, this is like those fucks that shot up the school in Collumbine. He (and they) were just using the things they had to hand. They had guns, he had a sword, someone else might've used a stick... I remember years ago reading that Saddam was teased at school for being illegitimate, took in an iron bar, and smashed the fuck out of the kids who were dissing him. Until bullying itself is really stamped out in schools, things like this will always happen.
