I used to play a long time ago. I quit around the time Ice Age came out. I sold all the cards I had accumulated for something like $400 (a little more than I put into it), and kept a few cards (a couple double lands, a Fork, Beta versions of both Icy Manipulator and Clone, a Demonic Tutor, and a few others. I still remember the feeling of buying a new pack, and the anticipation as I thumbed through it to see if the rare card was one that I needed or could trade (and quite often the disappointment upon finding some useless crap card)

Well, if you're a good player, $30,000 isn't bad for 3 days "work".

I play online too. The store is down because they fucked up the latest set release, and had to bring it down with the server. It should be back up in a day or two, though.

I used to play, I think I started in '95 or '96 and stopped just after ice ages came out. I don't remember much about card combos or anything that I used... I mostly used black, red, or green decks. I think I still have them somewhere, prolly packed away in a friend's storage place from when he moved a few months ago.

I remember having two really fun black decks, but don't remember much about them now. I mostly just played for fun and made decks had some kind of story or theme behind them. I had a green and black deck that pissed off some power gamer types cause once I told them what it was they said it was the most ineffective thing they'd heard of, then I kicked their asses with it.

it was mostly a green deck, with one swamp and an unholy strength as the only two black cards. it had one creature (other than walls), they were elven riders if I recal... then four (or whatever the max number allowed) of just about every type of green wall that was out at the time. most damage I dealt was from wanderlusts. I think I also had some artifact that shuffled my graveyard back into my library.

not sure anymore what my most valuable cards would be... I have some that were fairly rare from back when I played a lot, and some betas... only one I really remember was a rabbid wombat.

I played Magic back in when Tempest first came out. I quit like last year because it just ate up too much time and money. One of my friends is actaully a "dealer" he just sells the "cardboard crack"(as it has come to be called) to people online or at events and doesn't work other than that.......I hate him.

I've played since about the same time as you... i quit after Planeshift or Invasion or something and picked back up at Mirrodin...
Favorite card is, and always will be, Thorn Elemental.
My favorite combo is my little Warped Devotion/Megrim blue/black deck... bunch of return and discard spells, very deadly hehe, and my insanely fast green stompy deck...and my blue artifact affinity deck lol...plus several others whatever
Hmm...most valuable card is tough...I guess, in pure value, it would be my oversized Juzam Djinn that I got from a tournament... I honestly don't know what my most valuable card is, to tell you the truth...
But I wouldn't join a MTG group here, mainly cuz I forget to check on my groups anyway and nothing interesting gets said hehe
