Depends on what you mean by faked. She really got 56 stars tattooed on her face, but lied about not having asked for them. She claimed to have asked for 3 and then fallen asleep and the tattooer just went to town, but later admitted she did ask for what he did.

I knew there was something about this that didn't ring true, I just could remember what it was.
This recent Belgian article says she's no longer suing the tattoo artist because she can't afford a lawyer and that she's hoping to have the stars removed by next Summer. She also plans to get a new tattoo from under her arm to under her bellybutton when she's 'star-free'.
