I was typing away earlier this evening when I heard a huge gust of wind outside. I opened the door, had it ripped out of my hands and overhead was the loudest sound I have ever heard, like standing in a tunnel as a train went over. My lights went out and The TV never came back on..dead as hell. I wanted to check the local news to see if a tornado passed over us and never touched down. It was deafening.
I hate a fucking tornado.

It was probably just Dan being pissed off at you for living in his town.

There's also a couple of other things that could explain it. For example, look up a microburst sometime.

Could be, but the noise lasted for a few minutes, seemed to disappear into the distance then come back again. I went and stood in the fucking closet, heh.

I didn't phrase that very well. I didn't mean I thought it was a microburst...it very well could have been a tornado as you theorize. I was just throwing out an idea. Sorry for not elaborating.

Once I was babysitting my cousins and a tornado went right by the house. Hail all over the ground, their swingset was turned over, a tree fell on a house a block away, the whole nine yards. Scary as hell.

I'm in nc and lost power for a little while tonight and a lot of trees fell down and one hit my window (but not hard enough to break it!). I'm not sure what it was.

During Hurricane Fran a few years back, the hurricane spawned a tornado that snaked its way through my neighborhood destroying TONS of trees and doing damage to storage buildings and tore off my back storm door, but didn't take down any houses... you guys think tornados are scary, try living through a hurricane hehe... actually, its kinda fun tongue

having been through two tornadoes myself, id say that theres a good chance it was. kinda sounds like it from what youve said.

first one was years ago. i was at camp after 4th grade and one touched down on the fucking property. we were all getting rushed to the girls dorm, which was the closest building, and i saw the fucking funnel cloud. i was completely transfixxed, more out of awe than actual fear. im not sure exactly how close it was. id say a few hundred yards maybe. but a counselor came by and scooped me up as he was running towards the building. probably saved my life.

second one was a few years later and touched down near my house. i remember trying to shut the front door and i couldnt. it wasnt until later we found out it was a tornado. hail was everywhere, a tree in the front yard was split, as was one in the back.

needless to say, im pretty damn afraid of tornadoes, and theres not much that scares me.
