Marc Jacobs unveiled his new fall/winter line for Louis Vuitton this afternoon which is rumored to be inspired by White Stripes drummer Meg White.

With the White Stripes hit "Seven Nation Army" blasting over the speakers, models paraded down a fake snow catwalk encased in blocks of real ice wearing red tartan coats, bustled skirts and fur stoles with a vintage Victorian feel.

A white sheared mink jacket topped a blood red velvet dress set off by a velvet choker with tiny hearts dangling from gold chains. A moss green bustier dress with a tiered ruffle skirt was topped with an ermine stole.

even though i know nothing of fashion or designers or victorian era anything, i find this item of news fascinating.
one must wonder what, when the so called alternative fashions such as punk, goth, and even piercings/tattoos become mainstream, the subcultures which had previously identified with these trends will do with themselves.
obviously they can't keep wearing these styles regardless of what direction pop culture is trending this week, because that would be too individualistic and self-reliant of them.
it's a conundrum.

:shakes head:

You can lead an Italian menswear fan to New York youth couture, but you can't make him cute.

If I'm going to buy a purse that costs $725 it better have a wallet with at least $675 inside.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with that bag...

...except the color. I've seen Jacobs do a lot worse, and it's still pleasing.

Having looked at the collection, I must say that Marc Jacobs has outdone himself again. Though I wouldn't agree with the press that this is a "goth" collection, it is certainly playfully morose in a way only Jacobs' attention to detail can fulfill. His love for mid-20th-century fashion mixes with an Edwardian sensibility that is consistently amusing and wearable. Louis Vuitton has become a powerhouse under Marc Jacobs' direction, and this season is no exception.

I lust:

I love Fashion Week.

fur is still being used and as such the beauty and excitement that fashion week should hold is destroyed and proven instead to be a week of needless cruelty and utter lack of morals or compassion.

fuck these people, and fuck the models who swore in the 80's and 90's that they'd rather go naked than wear fur and are today brushing their delicate faces with the fur ripped off the carcas of an enslaved, tortured and murdered animal.

again, FUCK YOU.

I want bags made of human skin. Now. Humans are a better hunting prize than some defenseless animal that you shoot from your car with your high-caliber rifle.

Animals=yummy. I like fashion week too. Fur always comes of looking tacky and gaudy, so I don't like it. Leather is great though.

Ugh. In Japan, Louis Vuitton bags are a status symbol among vapid girls who have their mobile phones surgically attached to their heads. Give me a girl in a sweatshirt and jeans any day.

High fashion has to be one of the most interesting industries that has ever existed. It has to be the only market where you can smear faux poo on a product and increase it's value.

I'm all for people owning a few pairs of designer jeans, but couture is just ridiculous.
