America devotes an inordinate amount of resources to its wars on controlled substances; namely its wars on drugs – and raw milk. Yep, you read that right. The prohibition of alcohol may have ended in the US in 1933 with the passage of the Twenty-First Amendment, but it’s still alive and kicking when it comes to unpasteurized milk.
My preferred grocery store carries two different brands of raw milk. But then, I'm shopping Berkeley. I must say, I've gotten used to the taste of raw, non-homogenized milk, and now prefer it to pasteurized.
Great interview, thank you so much for featuring Nicole. The food situation in this country is outrageous... the accounts of family farms being raided by armed police sounds like 1984.... I have been making my own lacto-fermented vegetables (sauerkraut!) at home, brewing my own raw organic kombucha, growing my own sprouts, and trying to support organic local farmers markets as much as possible. Ultimately a return to the family farm model might be the only way to save our health.
I am so, so pleased to see an interview with Canty here. This documentary is fantastic, and even if you're not a raw milk advocate, hopefully you can see the insanity of the raids.
