It's interesting for me, being new here, and strolling through the forums. On most forums where I've posted, there are generally established archetypes:

http://www.winternet.com/~mikelr/flame1.html

I've found myself moving through different roles: tireless rebutter, profundus maximus, and even a Kung-Fu Master (once).

The best part about the archetypes is that everyone thinks they're a Kung Fu Master.

My Kung-Fu style is better than yours!

I went up to Seattle last weekend, and everything was "fu." My messageboard fu, my gaming fu, my drink fu, my snack fu, my sarcasm fu.

I haven't seen that page in ages, but it's so good. I wish there was a quiz that said which one you were though, that'd be kinda cool. I'd like to be a Kung-Fu Master, but suspect I'm just a Xenophobebiggrin

But I AM an evil clown!

It's funny, I always assumed I'd be one someday, and I already am one!

I had no idea that there were "internet names" for the types of people I can't stand.

Bliss Ninny, Compost, Troglodyte, Cyber Sisters, Ennui...

Christ...too many to mention.

Flame Warriors?

Why does this make me think of a really bad Dokken song?

We're the flaaaaaaaaaame warriors,
Don't wanna flame no more
We're the flaaaaaaaaaame Warriors
And maybe tonight
Maybe tonight you'll be gone

What's interesting is I see myself as different ones depending on which section we're talking about. Like in Current Events, I'm more of just a Picador. Don't stick around for the whole argument, just pop my head in for a few quick jabs. blackeyed

That was more instructive than any message board FAQ will ever be.

Awesome.

Doesn't ring a bell.

Despite assumptions to the contrary, Capitalista is not always a wealthy fat cat; being a Capitalista is a state of mind rather than a reflection of affluence. A strident and extraordinarily self?satisfied Warrior, Capitalista takes every opportunity to loudly extol the superiority of the United States and routinely expresses a powerful aversion to all things European. When left-leaning Warriors attack the free enterprise system Capitalista will instantly spring into action, fiercely bludgeoning all ?socialists? and ?fuzzy-minded liberals? with Adam Smith, Milton Friedman and Friedrich Hayek. Though often rather limited in his range of interests, Capitalista?s command of tendentious historical facts, abstruse statistical comparisons and arcane economic theory renders him nearly invincible in battle.
