"broken lizard's 'club dread'"...

...was fucking AWFUL. save your 8 dollars.

i was a fan of 'super troopers' from day one, and i was delighted to see it become the cult hit it became on DVD and over the internet. but man, it was as if 'club dread' was proactively bad.

however, as a friend pointed out, i don't think there has ever been a movie made that didn't have a single unattractive female in it. try and spot one if you go and see it.

What was so bad about it?

1. 'super troopers' worked because it sold me on all of the characters. i gave a shit about what happened to them. i didn't give a shit about anyone in 'club dread'. i guess it was in step with the slasher theme that all of the characters were two dimensional cardboard cliches (brave guy, swarthy foriegner, drug addict, slutty girl, etc) but it's no fun to sit through two hours of that

2. there were no shortage of spans of time in 'super troopers' where it seemed like everything goes on idle for several minutes before the next funny bit occours. this happens a LOT more in 'club dread'

3. it wasn't scary enough to be taken seriously as a slasher and it wasn't as well calculated as it needed to be in order to be an actual parody of the genre

The new drinking game is the "Governmental Speech" drinking game. Anytime anyone from the government says "Madman, grave danger, or threat to global security" while addressing the press, you drink. If they mention 9/11 or terrorist you chug.

That's a really hard question to answer. There were funny parts, but not enough of them, but some of the ones they had were really funny. The best review I could give of the movie would be, "Mediocre movie, but those guy have got to be incredible to party with."
