This will suck. I thought Christopher Nolan would do a good job. But he has decided to make Batman BRITISH. WTF?!!

How do you figure? Have you ever seen Christian Bale in a movie where he plays an American? You would never guess he was British. The man is a master of dialect and can talk like he was born and raised in America all his life.

In other news: though I find the title underwhelming I'm still excited about this movie. biggrin

The actor playing Batman is Welsh tongue Katie Holmes as the love interest rubs me the wrong way and Neeson isn't the primary villain. Ken Watanabe (the only thing worth watching in The Last Samurai) is playing Ra's Al Ghul so he should be flawless in that role.

You have to admit, the talent lined up for this outing is much better than the last couple of Batman flicks.

Actually, Liam Neeson isn't a villian at all...he is playing Ducard, who is sort of Batman's mentor.

I am still attached to the title Batman: Year One. I think it is a better title than Batman Begins, but perhaps that is because it reminds me ot the titles of the various Batman sequels.

Damn typos.

yes, but MCnaptime read somewhere that they are actually making him british. we discussed this a while ago. Obviously christian bale can do an american accent; he did it in both american psycho and the new shaft.

OK. First off, the actual character of Batman in the film is going to be British. Not American. And I love Ken Watanabe so that is a plus. Oh, yes sorry about the misconception with Liam Neeson's character. I was just quoting what I read on IMDB.

That just seems to be a poorly worded article. Meaning Batman, the franchise, not the character, will have an overwhelmingly British cast and crew. There's not real indication that Christian Bale will play a British Batman, and that seems highly unlikely, as he's an American icon. I don't think they're foolish enough to incur the wrath of many fans.

Yeah, you don't have to have a Biritish accent to have a "James Bond feel". That is a very poorly worded article indeed.

Speaking of James Bond, another reason why I'm excited about Bale being Batman/Bruce is because I think he's going to do a much better Bruce Wayne than previous actors. The others did Bruce as "dark, brooding, rich dude". Meanwhile I think what they're shooting for in this movie is having Bale present Wayne as the laid back, fun loving, millionaire playboy that he is.

Hey, everyone, yes, the last Batman movie sucked, but guess what: THAT'S WHY THEY'RE STARTING OVER!!!! They're pretending the first four never happened. Plus, they've intentionally tried to get a good director. They were going to have Aranofsky (sp?) but Christopher Nolan is just as good and probably better for this particular project.

And no, I doubt they're making Batman brittish. IT'S CHRISTIAN BALE! HE CAN PLAY AN AMERICAN! You have only proved in saying that that you have not seen American Psycho and thus you need to see it.

I just have to say american psych is the rockenest movie ever

The actor playing Batman is Welsh tongue

He is?shocked One of my previous managers used to go to school with Christian Bale, and a family friend of one of my best friends, is best friends with Christian Bale's dad. I didn't know he was Welsh though...
Never mind, he's a kick-ass actor. I doubt this'll be able to top Michael Keaton in Tim Burton's movies, but anything, and I do mean anything, will be better than the shite that Joel Schumacher had the nerve to call a Batman movie... That fucker deserves lynching and an Academy Award rammed up his 'batcave'surreal Batman and Robin was almost a shot for shot remake of Batman Forever At least it had Uma Thurman and Alicia Silverstone in it...love

from today's hollywood reporter...

gary oldman is set to star opposite christian bale in warner bros' pictures "batman begins." christopher nolan is directing the film, which is being produced by emma thomas, charles roven, and larry frano.

oldman will play lt. james gordon, a detective on the gotham police force. the actor joins bale, cast as bruce wayne/batman; michael caine as wayne's trusted butler alfred; katie homes as a childhood friend of wayne's; liam neeson as mentor henri ducard; and morgan freeman as lucius fox, a former board member and side-lined employee of wayne enterprises.

the movie has begun production in iceland and also will shoot in london and chicago.

I'm still giggling over this ^_^ hee

Anyway, I'm rather excited to see what they do with the movie. I was absolutely ecstatic when I first heard about it way back when ago, and Christopher Nolan really seems to know what he's doing so I think that's a great omen.

As far as the Brit thing goes, from what I'd heard, I thought they were making his character British. But I haven't been keeping up on it, so I don't know.

And Katie Holmes as the love interest makes me want to cry tears of blood. Not a bad actress persey, but she looks like she's 15. Get someone seasoned. Spicy even.
