^ I still need to see the movie, but I've seen photos of the actress and she's adorable. The book also refers to her as "dark skinned" which i guess translated to "kinda tan" in these people's minds. I just hope the little girl hasn't been dealing with too many of these stupid reactions first hand.
I thought the book was better. If I hadnt read the book, I might have like the movie more. Same with battle royale. That book was just awesome, but the movie sucked.
Anyway, I couldnt get into the second book. I think I made it about six or seven chapters before I lost interest. I was more enraptured by the senseless violence of the first book, which is kinda what turned me off about the movie. I was expecting the violence to be more graphic.
Second book started turning into a love triangle thing, which I wasn't into.
I dug the movie, personally. I kinda saw it as less of a movie, more of a.. I don't know, commentary of how the world's kind of becoming. I mean, it makes sense sadly enough if you look at it as an allegory. We send our children off to fight and die in war, and to a point? The Hunger Games was just that, an act of simulated war. It was just controlled and contained by the Capitol.
I've only seen the movie and although i did go to see the expected rawness of it which i thought didn't eventuate, its good to see a story that enforces you can beat the power of fear by sticking together. Good movie
