I think that by under rated and ignored films this year the reviewer truly meant "films that failed when it came to the box office." Of course they did though. Look at how much movies cost these days, and then compare that cost to the amount of complete trash that is being passed off as a decent movie. The only movie I saw in theater this entire year was Black Swan, and that is only due to the combination of Darren Aronofsky and Clint Mansell.... If I have the capability to see a movie done by that combination I will most certainly see it in theaters. All other movies can wait for dvd release as far as I am concerned. And before anyone comments, I'm well aware that Clint Mansell had nothing to do with the actual movie, but only the score alone. Regardless, the combination of Aronofsky's directing and Mansell's music always, always, always makes for an outstanding movie as far as I am concerned.

Likely correct. Which is not the same thing at all as underrated or ignored.
I'd like there to have been between 6-10 films I'd barely or never heard of on that list (given the thread title), followed by impassioned explanations of why I should seek them out if at all possible to watch.
Rather, I got a list of films I'd heard of, a number of which I'd seen, many with well known actors, with some whining about how they hadn't done as well as they should have at the box office.

Inception was the fifth highest grossing movie of the year (and counting, it hasn't closed yet).
At first I thought it was weird that I missed the line that you responded to. But then I realized that the line you responded to didn't actually exist. You made it up, you bastard. Why would you make up something like that? What's wrong with you?
Huh? Something has gone over my head. Here are the last couple of sentences from the first paragraph:
Many of them were tragically ignored by the masses and quietly slinked into DVD/Blu-Ray releases. Some may be completely unknown to many film lovers, so write them down. Here are 10 from 2010 that just did not get the respect and viewer love that they should have, but all of them actually got released in theaters somewhere.
I wonder how much SG pays for these articles. $100?

Members used to write them for the cost of a free membership. Of course, many of us (myself included) kind of just tapered off after a while. On the third hand, no one seemed interested in keeping us going.
Yeah, I thought it was wierd to see mainstream movies in the list. But I'm glad there were a couple of lesser known ones I saw and liked (made me feel included lol) and some I hadn't heard of. I'll be checking into the actual underrated and ignored ones soon. So all in all, thanks for the list.

Black Swan:
Domestic Box Office Total (current): $52 million
Estimated Budget: $13 million
Legend of the Guardian:
Worldwide Box Office Total: $140 million
Estimated Budge: $80 million
Inception:
Worldwide Box Office Total (current): $823 million
Estimated Budget: $160 million
Kick-Ass:
Worldwide Box Office Total: $96 million
Estimated Budget: $30 million
Monsters:
Worldwide Box Office Total: $3.5 million
Estimated Budget: $500,000
All totals courtesy Box Office Mojo (Exit Through the Gift Shop did not release a production budget but it is almost certainly well below it's worldwide gross of $5 million). While it's true that (taking into account P&A costs and profit participation agreements) most films generally need to recoup several times their production costs to become profitable, it strains credibility to call any of these films "underrated or ignored" in terms of revenue, critical recognition or visibility (Paper Man and Splice are the only plausible exceptions).
More accurately, this seems to be a list of films that the author saw, enjoyed and remembered well enough to write about from the last year.
