Why do you find this such a hard thing to understand? Are you foreign? Or 12 years old? Or never eaten or drank outside of your house?
I actually live in a country were people get paid for a job they do. Throwing insults out to somebody trying to gain knowledge is fairly grown up of you. I do understand that you don't get a wage as wait staff, I got that straight away. I'm not an imbecile, I am actually reading these replies.
Just to answer your questions though,
I'm asking to gain understanding
Yes, I'm from the U.K. I did state this earlier plus it's by my pic.
Obviously not, I'm on an adult site.
I have, but as mentioned earlier waiting/bar staff are given a wage in the U.K.
I am just curious about this, hence the questions.
Is it just wait/bar staff who aren't given salaried wage?

I really don't get how this is so hard to understand. Instead of numbers on my last paycheck it said "VOID this is not a valid paycheck", because basically all of my income is tips.
Anywho, I found this little jewel I thought it was fitting.
That was painful to watch. What an ignorant, trashy point of view.
The server was a moron to follow them, but that's beside the point. Five percent on steaks and two drinks per head? Sorry, you're human garbage. I hope she felt really awesome flipping off and mooning her own web camera. Sheesh.
In Ohio, barstaff, waitstaff and servers make $3.65 an hour. (they rely on tips)
Minimum wage in a non-tipped job is $7.30
Normally it is the service industry that is effected by the tipped-wage. Bartenders (some), waiters, waitresses. But there are other instances in where you tip, even though the employee is being paid. Taxi drivers, bell hops and a few others, normally it is something you do when you're in a fancy-schmancy situation.
We give our garbage men $20 each at christmas, as well as our mailman. I also tip when at coffee shops, sandwich shops and other situations where they are paid a minimum wage rate and still accept tips.
I make enough (much more than minimum wage) to throw a buck in when i am getting a coffee or sammich and it won't put me out.
I take donuts to our local fire station occasionally. They probably just get tossed out.
I think you think about why we tip it makes more senses. The service industry employs more people than others (with the exception of retail) and it's a job you can make a good living in without any schooling. I think if restaurants had to pay more in wages it wouldn't be as good a living for those people and the economy in general would suffer for it. I hope this makes sense and it's not totally retarded reasoning ha.
