Ah, it was just bugging me. Personally I really like it but I've never met anyone who doesn't and I was starting to get concerned about that for some reason. But my mind has been put at rest now...

Whilst I did really like it it frustrated because I got the impression that at times it was just odd for the sake of being odd and it promised that you would be able to work out what it was all about but it never really delivered on that front.

I found it extremely entertaining, but the timelines just don't add up to anything more than an intentional mindfuck. What was the point, then? I've debated it over and over with lots of different people. I've come to the conclusion that it doesn't mean anything at all. It's a drawn out exercise in absurdity. And that kind of pisses me off.

2 things that puzzle me:

1. What do the 2 teachers know about Donnie, or is it actually nothing?
2. Why will one teacher lose his job if he continues talking about time travel and religion with Donnie?

confused confused

I was unimpressed with it. While somewhat interesting, it never really grabbed me and I am stumped as to why so many people think it's the best thing since sliced bread.

I saw it once and wasn't paying attention while it was on. I wouldn't say I dislike it 'cuz I wasn't paying attention. There are plenty of movies that I didn't like the first time around like, "Last Exit To Brooklyn". Then I go and watch it again and read the book and then I'm hooked!

I do not understand why people look into this movie so much ,I love it and it does not take a rocket scientist to understand it.................the teachers know that donny is differant .....he is intelligent to a degree that he has no peers that being his problem........I see it as a ink blot test. It touches topics that arise in all atuned minds as well as showing the hypocrisy of society.......fate ,how it can be changed ,alienation,FEAR, synchronicity. Ever notice how in the begining Donny rides by the kid who makes the Frank mask while the killing moon plays in the background

I mainly liked it for the Smurf sex rant and "Why do you wear that stupid human suit?" which I think is a fairly creepy line.

Lots of people like it. TOO MANY take it fucking seriously, as in wow-I-know-stuff-about-quantum-physics-now seriously.

I saw it. It was an enjoyable movie. But hey, I can't stand when people hype something to me, calling it a mind-blowing experience or some shit. Wanna blow your mind? Make your way through Julian Jayne's "The Origin Of Consciousness In The Breakdown Of The Bicameral Mind."

It's a good question. For an answer, feel free to browse one of the many many Donnie Darko threads here and in the Film group.

Fair enough, but I just have one thing to say.

The search function DOESN'T WORK AT ALL!! Not even slightly in fact. If it ever does work then people can finally bitch at new members with impunity for not realising how often something has been posted before. But not until then.

Did anyone actually do the whole website adventure they had set up? It looked cool, but was minorly complicated, and my attention span doesn't do well with that.

nothing. they just wanted to fit drew into the movie.

2. Why will one teacher lose his job if he continues talking about time travel and religion with Donnie?

because the teacher gives the impression that he doesn't believe in god. and donnie goes to a catholic school. ::i think::
