Sarah Murdoch made a bit of a boo-boo on a live television broadcast of Australia's Next Top Model's finale.

After announcing that finalist Kelsey Martinovich had won, she was informed (via her earpiece) that an apparent miscommunication had occurred and she had mistake...

“I’m so sorry about this. Oh my God,” Murdoch says, hand now covering her mouth. The camera panned the gobstruck audience. “I don’t know what to say. This is a complete accident. It’s (the other finalist, 18-year-old) Amanda (Ware). I’m so sorry. It was fed to me wrong.”

At this point, Martinovich begins trying to comfort Murdoch, but she spins away to the audience.

“I’m so sorry,” Murdoch said. “Folks, this is what happens when you have live TV. This is insane, insane, insane.”

Watch the awesome debacle here:

I especially love the look on Murdoch's face when she receives the info and then has to tell the poor girl.

And, don't worry, they ended up with a pretty decent compromise/outcome:

The show’s producers agreed afterward to award both contestants the $25,000 (AUS) winner’s prize and to send both to New York. But only Ware will get the big break: a photo spread in Harper’s Bazaar and a contract with a top agency.

Oh shitty reality television, how you toy with people's emotions.

The two contestants handled a shitty situation as best they could. Although it is doubtful that being the finalist/winner will end up helping their modeling career in the long run though. Was watching a VH1 show and quite a few of the people in the show say they get interviews/auditions because of the show but they don't get the job since the people doing the hiring didn't want them from the start but rather just wanted to see them since they were on TV.
Also this might be better placed on the life style board rather than current events.

I wasn't surprised by this at all, on Sunday night as work I was talking to a friend who was working on the event and he mentioned that it was going live to air with no delay and we both cringed at how badly that could go, maybe we jinxed it? wink

Also I found it pretty amusing that the two contestants handled the situation much better than the seasoned TV presenter.

They really did. I probably would've cried to be honest, lol. whatever
