While I don't necessarily condone the hanging up of high heels for good, I found this article to be kind of interesting. Especially considering how many ladies that I know personally are convinced that men go ga-ga over their footwear.

...Now another study is looking at women between 18 and 35 and what signals are sent out when the they walk with and without heels.

Male observers in the experiment cannot tell which figures are wearing heels.

Dr. Neave said: "Women are spending money on high heels, which can be dangerous, presumably to make themselves look good and add to what nature has given them."

The study is investigating if the change in body posture brought about by wearing heels, such as the illusion of longer legs, tilting torso and more prominent rear, sends a signal which has an impact on men.

Personally.....I wouldn't want to be with a woman who spent that much time & energy worrying about what men want. Not to mention the pain & potential physical damage.

This is a very strange piece. The title leads you to believe this is primarily about a study of women in heels - but it's actually more about males and their dance movements.

Anyway, if the experiment with women in heels is like the men's dance experiment - then it sounds like this isn't a study of how a woman looks in heels - but rather whether men notice a change in their movements while in heels using a 3D capture technique.

In any case - I have to say there is far too little data to even know if this study has any merit - let alone any tie to appearance.

Probably because we're not checking out the feet.

yeah but, traditionally, you're supposed to tell in the way we walk, carry ourselves in heels vs. flats.

the look of pain/anguish on my face when i'm not completely hammered and wearing heels is a definite turn-on.

No need to take defense - I was commenting about the article and study and noting the lack of information and the fact that the title of the article covered a smaller subject matter of the whole story. I don't know what's "unchill" about addressing that.

If you feel those points aren't worthy for discussion then you don't. No biggie. Just realize that nobody was attacking or addressing your interest in it. smile

That's cool...it just needs more information so there's actually something to base an opinion on. The best I can guess at is that it is similar to the 3D study they did for the guys.

And on that note, they could have at least posted the 3D modeling of the guys dancing so it could be assembled with CC Music Factory's "Everybody Dance Now" so we could have a new meme.

Keep telling yourself all of that.

All I'm saying is wear whatever you're comfortable in.

Man...loaded question. It depends on what they are wearing and where they are.

Sometimes barefoot looks best (um..I do NOT have a foot fetish) ... it would probably be easiest to show pics and ask, "Heels or no Heels?"

i totally agree. minus the barefeet, i have this anti-foot fetish thing going on.

i think it goes along with MrCrisp and Cash's sentiment about comfort. if a woman can rock heels with confidence and look comfortable then she'll exude said confidence as well as sexiness and attractiveness with greater ease than if she were in constant pain and anguish by her footwear. dig?

I saw a blurb about this the other day and have been thinking about it. Biologically / evolutionarily speaking, high heels sort of lift and separate the buttocks, which is a classic posture for sexual readiness, so it appeals to the amygdala (or "lizard brain") in males.

However, I personally don't buy shoes to impress men. I know they won't notice the shoes themselves. I buy them because they are cute, and I can wear them comfortably. If I had trouble wearing them, it would affect my posture, and me falling and breaking my ankle is not sexy. (And yes, I've done that.) But if the shoes make my legs and butt look better, more the better.

For my answer, I will use the same woman in heels and without shoes. I shall spoiler the images so one does not bias the other.

When I had a car living in the midwest I wore heels all the time bc I only had to walk into a building, do a few things and then walk out.

Living in the city I NEVER wear heels. I would die from tripping over a crack in the sidewalk not to mention I hate feeling like I can't run without doing the "girl trot" which ends up being the pace of a brisk walk with lots of arm movement.

What pisses me off is when I had a job that forced me to wear high heels. I would spend 8 hours STANDING in high heels.....fucking torture.

This. (I don't buy shoes to impress women either.) I think high heels are sexy, and they do make your legs look both leaner and more shapely. But I won't wear heels out if they're uncomfortable.
I find heel height makes a big difference. In my younger days I wore heels all the time, but they were rarely over 3" and were pretty comfy. Most of these 4 and 5" heels that are the rage nowadays absolutely kill me.

Yeah, I don't know many women who walk into a store and buy a pair of shoes to impress men. If anything, they buy them to impress other women. I buy heels because I like the way I look in them, I like being taller than everyone, and my torso is fucking gigantic and in flats I feel disproportionate.

I haven't been wearing heels out lately because I tower over the friendboy I'm seeing lately and it makes me feel awkward blush

This is the right answer. If a woman likes how she looks in something, she's going to feel and exude confidence. Confidence is sexy.
