"I'm going to write songs about fucking blowing my head off and giving in to apathy," says Filter founder and frontman Richard Patrick during our interview. It's not that he's going to do either, it's just that he understands what anger combined with a sense of hopeless can do to a person's psyche.

In 2008 he released Anthems For The Damned, which served both as a protest against the Iraq war and a tribute to a friend it had claimed. (Anti-war, but very much pro-troops, Patrick has traveled to...

Great interview, with a great man in an amazing band. Having been a Filter fan from the start and having been anxiously awaiting 'The Trouble With Angels' for what seemed forever, I have to say that it truly seems Richard, in having embraced his past, is in his own on this amazing cd. There could not have been an "Angels" cd without Anthems for the Damned.

To see the personal growth and hear the 'fun' in his voice when he sings on "Angels", really cuts to the quick that the man has been through hell and back and now he is going to just tell it as it is. He may have 'grown up' with Anthems and gone full circle to continue where "Short Bus" left off, but it's more than that. His followers, his fans from 'Short Bus' and on, have gone through many life changing events as well. In his lyrics, in his vocals, in his imagery, we all see ourselves and others we have known. He helps us all come to terms with our lives. He sums up his, we accept ours.

This is more than just a new cd from Filter, it is a chance for all of us, the long time Filter fans, to go back to the past and come to terms with what was and can never be again, and what can be and what we have to look forward to. So thank you Richard for the journey. Thank you for sharing your life so that we can live ours, and mostly......Thank you for giving us our fix!!!!

Always been a fan, even of the last album though I didn't agree with it's politics.. Will there be a Barack Obama is fucking us up on this album? I doubt it. That said, glad he's still sober and making good music. Looking forward to hearing the new album.
