OLD SKOOL

With pieces of work such as E.T. Leaving Las Vegas and The Last Temptation of Sesame Street, special effects photographer Charlie White creates a bizarre world one shot at a time.

Charlie White doesn't take photographs. He constructs them. Like a Hollywood director, he orchestrates scenes, commissions sets, hires actors, and employs a visual effects team. Then he oversees a grueling postproduction process in which each element of the shoot is digitized, scrutinized, and perfected down to the pixel. In essence, he captures an entire f/x film in one frame.

I got a book of his art that was published about 2-3 years ago. He's pretty amazing, and I'm happy that he's finally getting some exposure!

.....tens of thousands of dollars to produce? Yea, they're nice, but.....uhhh.....that's an awful lot of money for a single picture that a paintbrush could do for $5. Regardless, the budgets on those things are ridiculous.

Tens of thousands. I cant get people to scrape together a couple grand for a documentary, but people will put up 5 figures for a picture that any amatuer CG artist or high school kid with Photoshop could do.
Life really is more who you know than what you know.... blackeyed
