Are there any movies that you didn't like at first, and maybe even hated, but now you've decided you like after all?

Right now, the prime example of this for me is on: "The Hudsucker Proxy". The first time I saw it, Jennifer Jason Leigh's performance was just so annoying to me, and the whole sort of general style of it so loopy, that I just thought it was one of the stupidest things I've ever seen. I still consider it one of the Coen Bros. weakest films, and the one in which their desire to be visually striking hurts the story of the movie the most, but I like it much more now than I did.

Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey (yes, the sequel).

Absolutley amazing in every way. So many layers of genius... references abound.

Magnolia. i hated it the first time i saw it. it seemed to me that i sat there for 3 hours to be told that "life sucks" was pretty much the theme. but i gave it a second chance, started liking it more, and even more the third time. now i love it.

I didn't get "Bad Taste" the first time I watched it. I think I was too young. Now I love it.

Snatch. I thought it was too much like Lock, Stock when I saw it for the first time. But my brother-in-law whose opinion I really respect (he's a huge movie buff and commercial maker) just went on and on about how great a movie Snatch was, so I decided to see it again. He was right, it's a great flick through and through.

The Elephant Man
I think I was too young to really understand it when I first watched it a few times, but now I love it.

Almost Famous
I had to get over the fact that Kate Hudson kinda stinks and the guy who plays the main boy really stinks. Jason Lee and Billy Crudup are both phenomenal.

LOTR "Fellowship of the Ring" Didn't like it at all the first time I saw it: Frodo's whining, Pippin's idiocy, the false endings. All of it just bugged me but I finally came around. Frodo still bugs but I've learned to ignore it.

Requiem for a Dream.
I knew even the first time I saw it that it was a great movie, but... thinking about it days later still made me shudder. And now I want to see it again...

Fargo was one of those, didn't see the big fuss that was made over it, now it's one of my favorites, and maybe my favorite Cohen brothers movie(sorry Big Lebowski)

I forgot, Austin Powers. Thought it was fucking lame when I saw it in theatres and didn't think it was funny. The weird thing was, it was funnier to quote the movie and use it as a reference when talking with friends than it was to watch it. Then I began to appreciate it more.
