David Cross is an essential part of the collective American comedy consciousness. Cross is one of the many talented people who, like a phoenix, rose from the ashes of The Ben Stiller Show to become a significant force in comedy. He teamed up with former Ben Stiller Show cast member/writer Bob Odenkirk for a series of stage shows named Mr. Show, which eventually was brought to TV by HBO and enjoyed an extremely funny run. Mr. Show kept up the tradition of the anarchist spirit through sketch comedy.

I had sex with David Cross. Okay I'm lying, but that would be pretty messed up. He's one of the best comedians. Period.

This is by far no level of justification for what a talented asshole David Cross really is. As Daniel Robert Epstein stated so poignantly and Missy reiterated, '...he truly is a phoenix...' Not just by arising solely from the ashes of the Ben Stiller show, but thru various other ventures along the knotted cobblestones of his career. Stumbling bloody toed into what would have been a just ending, HBO gave him and fellow co-star Bob Odenkirk carte blanch to create a level of humor that could never be tamed. This was the juggernaut of comedy that was infamously referred to as: Mr. Show. Understanding the Mass Hysteria unleashed upon society, HBO had no recourse but to shun Mr. Show to a fate worse than death: a time slot on Mondays at Midnight. Dying an unnoticed death, Mr. Show did not go quietly. Leaving a slew of Pit Pat dolls, Entitilitus PSA's, mathematically incorrect R&B videos, and other blasphemous vulgarities in every corner of its cell. Mr. Show lives on in the reminiscence of its fecal entrails. David was wounded, but from these wounds he created, a protective shield of Cynical upheaval. He parlayed into bit rolls as the Nerd on various movies, between the daily beatings given by Teamsters, he wrote more skits vowing to return to the bright lights of underground indie venues. His time came and with a van full of art libers, he traversed America. Sometimes stopping for the random harassments given by the belittled hill people of our great nation. Only a few understood his vision, which helped fuel his self-worth. On the anniversaries of the now cult classic Mr. Show's re-release parties, David presented his own unabridged memoirs so profoundly titled "Shut up, you fucking baby." Now we cast a wary eye to David, living off of those vittles Mr. Show left so long ago. Spending it in an ode to the late M.C. Hammer, buying large homes in local cities and squandering the rest on "Celebrity Poker" tours. A phoenix not once, but every several years, rising brilliantly away from the glowing embers of what was and flying directly into the flames of what will be, that used to be...*

*Life paraphrased. I am only a minor fan, whom has enjoys the unrelenting quips of Mr. Cross (i.e. god of fuck, Ronnie Dobbs, Ainsley McTree and so many more...) I wish him much success and health in the many years to come. My hat is off dear sir.

A buddy of mine saw him in Hoboken and talked to him a bit. He said he was a really nice guy, totally cool. I have both Mr. Show DVDs and Cross's last bouble CD. Very funny guy. Big Fan. Great Article. PLEASE: Stop praising Bernardo Bertolucci he is simply overrated and the word out on The Dreamers is that it sucks. No surprise. But this is about David Cross. ANd he deserves more praise than he gets.

David Cross has made me laugh so hard I thought that surely, I would literally DIE laughing. His "Shut Up You Fucking Baby" discs have become my dating metronome. I borrow the potential victims the discs, and if they dont return them drooling and reciting their favorite bits, the humorless wastrels are then quickly tossed to the curb.

I discovered David Cross in Colombia. Strangely enough, one day i was searching cable at my grandfather's house, six years ago, in my little third world country, and lo-and behold, HBO. Mr. Show suddenly became the most exciting masturbation material to date, and David Cross the love of my life. To this day, whenever i am afraid, i hold my David Cross security blanket. I could not breathe without the man. I ask you all this: Comic Genious, or God?

You know, you're maybe the perfect person to do this interview- I feel like I've been enlightened. Obviously, I don't have the same affinity that alot of people have for David Cross, or comedy in general for that matter, albiet "alternative comedy", whatever that means. Well, maybe I have a better idea now, anyway- but the terms are unimportant in the end, I suppose. In any case, it makes me want to check out this DVD of his- this is nearly Robert Altman territory, only real life. And any episodes I remember seeing of Mr. Show were fucking amazing. This was a great read, nice job.
