John Lydon (a.k.a. Johnny Rotten) says he doesn't like tattoos, but try not to hold that against him. If I'd been calling in on behalf of a golf magazine, he'd probably tell me how much he's offended by the sport. Not because he's disagreeable -- he really isn't -- but because first and foremost, above all else, the OG punk rocker is a provocateur and contrarian.

The Sex Pistols frontman is back on the scene after reviving his post-punk avant-garde music project Public Image Limited (a.k.a. PiL).

I find it kind of interesting that this interview comes out days after we lost Malcolm.

JL:Alrighty. Ooh, can I end on the best tattoo I've ever seen?

NPtonguelease do.

JL:It was on Fantasy Island. The little bloke was called tattoo.

Awesome.

SG needs to get some spelling & grammar editors to review the interviews before they go to post. wink

To be still treated as some kind of fowl-mouthed job is a bit upsetting and wrong.

I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be "foul-mouthed yob".

...that party fully supported Coco the Clown and let him lose on the world.

Let him "loose" on the world.

Am I the only one that thinks John Lydon is far more cool and entertaining now than back in the day, top interview.

He's been far more cool and entertaining now than back in the day for years.

LOL on second read. Sting sucks. i used to like the Police...but the best line ever comes from Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden: "Sting acts like he's the only person who ever read a book".

hey--o!

Great read, yes my fellow Englishman is a good old laugh, I cant buy the butter though due to my diet, but I did enjoy seeing the advert on the old box. He should do some more! smile

I like this interview because it's one of the few where he never seemed to be taking the piss or biting the interviewer's head off for a particular question or phrasing or characterization he didn't like. Lydon is an interesting character. I bet he's a lovely guy in person. Can you imagine if he was your uncle or something? I dunno. From everything I've seen and read he seems like quite a sensitive heart, you know? And if he lashes out it's only because he hates what the world does to the less fortunate.

Lydon said the butter commercial money put PiL back together and on the road.
