You can't always control the situations you find yourself in, but you can control how you react to them. This is a lesson that Runaways frontwoman, singer and rock & roll icon Cherie Currie learned the hard way.
After a chance meeting with vocalist/guitarist Joan Jett and demented pop n' rock Svengali Kim Fowley (a producer whose credits at the time included the novelty hit "They're Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa"), Currie found herself at the eye of the storm that was The Runaways at age fifteen.
Great interview!
I can't wait to see the movie!
I grew up with The Runaways,Kids laughed at me back in high school when I would bring in the first 2 records in and try to turn other kids on to them.
They were all listening to KISS and thought a girl band was a joke.
I can remember seeing them on the cover of Crawdaddy magazine ,and being hooked...It was like "Wow,These girls are totally hot ...and...they're the same age as me"
I'll always be a fan.
I have to say those 1st 2 records with Cherie on them stand up to anything that's come out since will always be classics in my book.

Great Job!
I experienced some of the same things you did. Makes me wanna go and dig out that Crawdaddy issue. I also cannot wait for the movie, and I'm definitely getting Cherie's book.
