I was thinking about starting a group about this.

What about a group about living together with your boyfriend/girlfriend/partner, but not married? Could discuss problems obtaining credit to buy a house, general "living together" issues to vent about, how to deal with people who give you shit for "living in sin," etc? I know it's been talked about in GO and other groups before. What do you think?

If you're living with someone without being married (gay/lesbian/straight/whatever), what has been the hardest part? I've had potential lenders tell us off the bat we'd have trouble securing a loan for a house without being married. Then again I am from the BIble Belt...

I "live in sin" and we have a kid together. The pressure to get married from friends and family is ridiculous. Why do we need a piece of paper to prove our love? We aren't religious so there is no "announcing our love before god" bullshit. And it's dumb we don't get the financial benefits that married couples get even though our relationship has lasted a great deal longer than most marriages do. My only reason for considering marriage would be to have the same last name as my son.

I've never had anyone actually tell me I'm living in sin. But people act like it's a huge deal to have a kid with someone and not marry them. I don't understand it at all. I guess married couples are better parentswhateverwhatever
