Is it wrong to love XKCD?

I don't think so. And neither do any of these folks.

They're like the assholes that show up someplace fun just to say how much it sucks and ruin people's enjoyment. You're incapable of understanding the humor, it's not your thing? Fine. Move on. Don't bother making a grating explanation of every single comic that shows that the tongue-in-cheek humor is just going over your head.
At least when people like Nostalgia Critic, Angry Video Game Nerd, or their ilk ream bad comics/movies/video games, they do it with a genuine love of the genre behind it and a good sense of humor.
I have to respond with the almost cliche "/facepalm."

you know, at first, i was like "wow, what a bunch of assholes". but it's actually really funny deadpan. it's OIC WAT U DID THERE played straight. i think it's actually written by the XKCD character in the hat.

As soon as I saw this thread title I wondered how long it would be before Thistle came in to diss XKCD, and she even beat my expectations.

i would not be surprised in the least.

It's ok to love a webcomic. It's ok to like a webcomic. It's ok to dislike a webcomic.

But to actually HATE a webcomic is probably a waste of life. Put energy into something else.

One of my favorite webcomics, Right up there with Cyanide & Happiness.

I am unfamiliar with XKCD. But I like the Discovery Channel commercial.

How does it make anymore sense to love an inanimate thing than to hate it?

For the record though, I like xkcd a lot.

I just think if a person has such strong negative feelings about something ultimately not that important, it makes more sense to just leave it alone and forget it's there rather than continually pouring energy into maintaining a burning hate for it. Putting the same amount of energy into actively enjoying something makes more sense to me.

I read it every other day and its in my list of bookmarks on 5 diffrent computers

I'm a liberal arts major. 50% of the jokes go waaay over my head, and I still count XKCD as one of my favorite comics.

[It's ok to love XKCD, he's funny. Not for everyone, but he's funny.

For me:
Step 1: Get the Grey Blah's.
Step 2: Load up the xkcd site.
Step 3: Smile.
Step 4: Go do stuff. Grey Blah's gone.

Loving has an internal positive payoff, hating does not.

It would be far funnier if it were neutral. It's less of a precise dissection, more of a stabbing.
