Stanley Kubrick and Akira Kurosawa. Not terribly historical, but they're the guys I'd want to meet. Robert Heinlein as well. Guess I just haven't had any really old personas with a major influence on my life. Oops... Buddha Sakyamuni. I'd like to meet him.

Cleopatra probably wouldn't be a disappointment either.

Ghandi, Alexander the great, Jesus, Marcel Duchamp, Kerouac, William Blake, Yeats, Sartre, Ayn Rand and maybe Hunter S. Thompson or Thomas Jefferson.

Ooh, or Franklin.

A friend of my creative writing professor once went to a party where he recognized James Baldwin, but he didn't introduce himself because he was afraid Baldwin might hit on him. Regretted it the rest of his life.

That said, I'd LIKE to meet Orson Wells, but I'm afraid he wouldn't think much of me.

Rommel was all smoke and mirrors... LoL.

I'd pick characters in the same vein though... Oda Nobunaga, Atahualpa, Ruminahui, Moctezuma or Cuactemoc.... no thinkers for me please.... only do'ers or those who had it 'done' unto them.

As of today I think my top choice would be Ernesto Che Guevara.
