My ten-year high school reunion is coming up this summer. eeek

I was wondering what I'm supposed to wear to this silly thing. Skirt, simple dress, dressy dress, or semi-formal? They haven't announced any kind of dress code, and I'd feel silly being over- or underdressed.

Has anyone been to a reunion yet? Any advice?

Simple dress

I went to my ten year and our school ended up being banned from the Embassy Suites. We were a pretty hard partying class.

My 20 year is this year. Scary, huh!

My only advice is :

I'd go more on the casual side. But then I hate to be overdressed more so than underdresses. At least if you're underdressed you're comfortable. biggrin

Wow, my ten year reunion is going to be in 2 years. I hope I have a college degree by then. whatever

I want that dress.
You should definately wear that one!!! You'll look extra fancy. Who cares what everyone else is wearing, go for it!

I don't really care what everyone else is wearing (as you can see by that dress). I just didn't know if these things tend to be simply dressy or semi-formal. smile

I looooooove that dress. I found it at Torrid.

From the wisdom of my friend J, I offer this suggestion. Mind you, I missed attending my own reunion, but this is what I might have done......

Find out what hotel, banquet room, banquet hall, wherever the reunion is supposed to take place. Then have a friend drive you there about 2 hours early. Do this preferably in a vehicle with tinted windows, or something that can pretty much obscure anyone's view from the outside. Park the car somewhere close to the lot where the attendees will be parking in.

Have a big fat joint on hand, and smoke up. Then wait and watch as your former classmates, tormentors, cheerleaders, jocks, geeks, losers, and whomever arrive. Giggle profusely with your friend as you recall random stories of them. Stare at their bald, obese, "tore up from the floor up" selves and know that you just saved yourself at least $75. I'm sure the expression on your face will be priceless. smile

The first time I got something for my five year reunion, I wrote "deceased" on it and sent it back. They never bothered me about the ten year, and I suppose that whether or not to invite me to the 20 year will hardly be an issue as well. As a bonus, I never get those alumni-fund-raising calls either (I went to a private school).

Highschool reunions seem really stupid to me...

It's a room filled with people you can't stand...

and all they do is brag about themselves all nite...
"look at me now"
"blah blah blah"
whatever

Unless you're lying about your age or graduated younger than most people your first (five year) reunion shouldn't be for two or three more years. Why are they already contacting you?

I will be wearing shorts and a t-shirt to mine as it will be in the summer and therefore too hot for jeans.

My ten year is coming up this year and I think I'd rather rub myself with a cheese grater than come within ten miles of it.

I dig the dress though
