what the hell is this program?

and how did it get on my computer...

Suddenly out of nowhere this program called Sniff-em ( http://www.sniff-em.com ) has apeared on my desk top and is running. I'm going to erase it right now, but was is it? it says its a 'packet sniffer' or something? is it spywear? I'm a little freaked out. no one else uses my computer and I swear it wasn't there yesterday.

if i were you id uninstall it. and maybe get ad-aware or something.

you know what, I think I figured it out. we were having problems with our router and I think my roommate fixed it, and he probably installed that program. I wish he had said something to me before gettin all up in my computer.

you can use packet sniffers to read the emails and instant messages of whoever may be on your network, assuming that youre on a closed network, and assuming you know how packet sniffers work

Only on really shitty networks, and try and remember that if you sniff in promiscuous mode you can be caught.
