yesterday, i jumped out of my truck at the house, and i could smell the ice. we have about a foot of snow, and the pond on my neighbors land is frozen over. i can smell it, i want to lace up the skates and spend time out on the ice. growing up, i loved the smell of the ice (still do), it means HOCKEY! there are so many smells around my house, some good, a few are bad. but there is no pollution to mask them.

i can not wait until the summer when the smells are even more abundant. cut grass, cow manure, soft rain on the dirt, a mowed hay field, wet cats, motor oil from the boat, worms and sun tea.

what thoughts are brought on what smells?

i love the smell of secondhand garlic... something about the way it mixes with a person's chemistry and exudes out their pores...
