Boy and I are planning on going SOMEWHERE for spring break. Your ideas, please.

And...we aren't really the "get drunk and flash our boobies" kind of people...we're more..."relax and have a lot of sex and get good tans while drinking margarita's on the beach" kind of people.

We were thinking Myrtle Beach, but I'd like your ideas. smile

Definitely not Panama City, FL... that place is a shithole.

Myrtle Beach is actually alright. I went there for spring break when I was 14 or 15, and it wasn't too out of control. SD is always rad, but it's always packed, too.

Myrtle Beach is likely to have rather chilly weather during that time. You might want to head further south or west.

Mexico!!

Not Cancun or anywhere stupid like that, but some deserted beach...

My Ex and a bunch of his friends rented this giant house in... I think it was Playa Del Carmen (?) for cheap and they had a cook who went to the market everyday and made them awesome meals, a private beach to chill out on...

That's where *I* would go, anyway. Damn I wish I could afford to go on vacation! frown

You could always try Texas or Louisiana instead.

Myrtle Beach is lame. If you want to head in that direction, aim for the Charleston area... try Folly Beach or Kiawah Island for fun, Edisto Island if you're looking to relax with no people around. That area (especially Folly) is so awesome it'll make you cry.

I'll second coughee... I think Charleston and the surrounding areas are the greatest section of the US. Ahhh, if only there were more out there I would want to move.

I fell in love with Charleston when I took my sister down there for a college visit last year. I think it's kind of EXPENSIVE, though, if you want to stay somewhere nice (i.e. in the middle of town with all the historic stuff/water/palm trees.)

Check for "spring break" deals on Travelocity or Expedia. They often offer fairly reasonable packages for cruises, Mexico, the Bahamas, Rio, etc.

Also, my campus has been littered with ads for spring break packages. Go to the nearest university (are you near one?) and grab some. They're usually right inside the entrances to classroom buildings.

I'd sooner kill myself than visit the tourist haven that is Myrtle Beach again.

For relaxing on the beach, nothing beats the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The farther down the islands you get, the better. Personally, I like the Brigand's Bay area of Buxton. If you really want to get away from it all, go all the way to Ocracoke. Year-round population: 769.

Edisto's really nice, but it's a bit on the elderly side, isn't it? Maybe I'm mixing it up with somewhere else, it's been 15 years since I was there last.

In SC I like Isle of Palms. Chincoteague and Assateague Islands in Virginia are really nice, too. But their waves are wimpy compared to the Outer Banks. Outer Banks breakers'll beat you up.

Seeing as how Cigarette was listed as the last poster when I saw the thread title, I thought it said 'Cigarette Break' and I my first reaction was "Fuck yes!"

This is the correct answer.

I'm on Spring Break now. It means so much more to me now as a teacher than it did as a student. I'm doing "nothing," (special or planned, anyway) and it's everything I thought it could be.
