You can have my Sparks when you pry it from my cold, dead hand!

If you're like me then it was a sad day indeed when the Miller Brewing Co. announced that they would voluntarily remove all of the caffeine, taurine and ginseng from one of the most important advancements in party history... Sparks.

Yes, that tall can of orange power drunk was reduced to simply a container of sweet tasting orange beer incapable of extending party hours way past natural human ability (without the aid of ectasy, cocaine or other illegal/over-the-counter recreational pharmaceuticals.

I took the news especially hard after discovering this action was a result of a lawsuit brought by San Francisco City Attorney Dennis Herrera.

But today is a glorious day for SF and Sparks lovers worldwide. According to this article on SFWEEKLY, a crack (pun intended) team of Mission hipsters have concocted a home-made recipe that is virtually indistinguishable from the real thing!



The second participant in this blind taste test is a regular patron at my bar (where Sparks was carried before it's demise) and I can personally vouch for alcoholic prowess. He's been 86'd multiple times and I've had to physically remove his passed out body from both inside the bar and the outside sidewalk. Had Sparks still been available perhaps he could have cycled home on his own.

Anyway... this looks very promising.
