Dreadlocks

So I'm considering Dreadlocks. But I need advice... this is because white guy dreadlocks can look pretty fucking terrible. So my questions are thus: Do you think I would look ok with Dreads? If so, how long should one grow one's hair before trying to dread it, because short dreads tend to look pretty terrible too in my experience.

Try it out, if people give you crap and you don't find the aesthetics pleasing enough to endure, then you have learned your lesson. Dreads are easy to get rid of.

I had waist length dreads for several years I finally got rid of them cos they were effing uncomfortable to sleep on

Real dreads are a huge commitment. They can take years to look good. Can you commit years into your hair?
